The Promise of an Executive MBA Programme

b-school pic 2Any Executive MBA Programme will promise you the same thing: It will turn an average thriving manager into a strategical and inspirational leader.

Granted, many of the top EMBA programs deliver what’s needed to achieve the above, but which are they? Relaying on different sources and surveys published, we came up with a list of, and relevant information about, graduate business schools and programs which we think fit the profile. In turn, for this research, the different sources mainly conducted their surveys based on alumni and companies feedback about the best MBA schools worldwide.

The list is made up of 26 business schools which can offer the structure, curriculae, staff, and methods needed to produce top of the line business executives.

Leading the way we have Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, followed by the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School

So, what makes Kellogg and Wharton better?

To begin with, companies love them. Companies, fancy business schools that deliver a quick ROI. In other words, they want recent MBA graduates to be able to apply what they had learned right away. The kind of manager material that comes out of those programs simply delivers what companies want. In practical terms, graduates from these two EMBA programs do the job. These two schools also rank pretty high in the student survey.

Students Choice of EMBA programs

More than 4000 students from more than 60 graduate programs (from over 10 countries) were polled on how well their program enhanced leadership and management skills. University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School ranks number one in the “student choice awards” list.

The results of these surveys were analyzed by The Wall Street Journal in collaboration with Management Research Group.

-Ranked number 3: Thunderbird School of Global Management
-Ranked number 4: University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, and
-Ranked number 5: University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School,

Also, four international schools made the overall list:

- From Spain: ESADE and IESE,
- IPADE, EMBA programs in Mexico;
- University of Western Ontario in Canada.

London Business School’s joint program with Columbia University’s Business School also appeared among the top 25.

Does your school deliver on its promise? We urge you to look at what companies and alumni are saying about their respective programs and then make your choice. After all, what matters in the end is how well you can do professionally after graduation.

Good luck.
